Alentejo Surf Camp | Milfontes | Portugal
FAQ
- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS -
HOW IS THE WEATHER?
The weather is good all year round. It rains in winter and spring but not for long.
Winter - between 12ºC and 25ºC ; Summer - between 25ºC and 42ºC.
WHAT IS THE WATER TEMPERATURE?
Between August and September the water temperature is pretty cool,
about 20ºC to 25ºC, warm enough to go surfing in boardshorts.
For those people who get cold easily the best is to use a 3/2mm wetsuit.
From November till March you might need a 4/3mm wetsuit if you are not used to cold water.
HOW ARE WAVES?
The waves are good all year round, better in fall and spring, and bigger in winter.
In summer it gets a little smaller but pretty consistent to enjoy great sessions.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
Check the "HOW TO REACH US" to find all information about.
For any further questions, just contact us.
WHICH ONE IS THE NEAREST AIRPORT?
Faro's Airport is about 180kms far, 2 hours driving a car or 3 hours if you take the train or BUS.
Lisbon's Airport is around 160km away and it takes about 1,5 hours driving a car and 3 hours by train or BUS. The tickets cost between 12.00 EUR and 16.00 EUR.
WHAT KIND OF ROOMS DO YOU HAVE?
Double/twin and shared rooms are available in Alentejo Surf Camp.
The shared rooms are up to 6 people. Check our Surf House page about more info.
DO I NEED TO BRING A SLEEPING BAG?
You can, but you don't need to. We provide covers, sheets, pillows and towels.
The nights in summer are quite warm, so probably you won't need an extra sleeping bag.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
From late Spring till mid Autumn (May-October) the water is usually warm, so all you need is swimming suit, summer wetsuit, sunglasses, lots of sunscreen, towels, reef shoes or sandals and a cap.
In winter (November to April) we recommend you to bring a 4/3mm wetsuit or a glued stitched winter wetsuit, a lot of warm clothes as it is quite a cold, windy and rainy season.
And houses don't have district heating.
If you are coming in the summer and arriving on the weekend, we suggest you bring some cash with you. During the high season frequently the cash machines are empty on weekends
and will be available just working.
It's important also to bring a warm sweater / jumper to dress up after surfing in the early evening, during the night comes the humidity and might get a bit "fresh" on a t-shirt... and your muscles need to rest warm. In case you forget or don't have enough room in your luggage, just order one of Alentejo Surf Camp jumpers and that's it!
IS THE EQUIPMENT INCLUDED?
All Surf Camp packagesages include the equipment along your stay.
Group and Private surf lessons also include equipment.
You can also bring your own equipment, but that might be extra costs, depending on your Air carrier.
CAN SOMEONE FIX MY BOARD OVER THERE?
Yes, we do! We have all the tools to repair surfboards. You can do it by yourself or just ask us!
